Troubleshooting tips for GitLab

If our monitor says GitLab is up but you still can't reach it, try these steps:

Hard-refresh your browser

  • Press Ctrl + F5 (Windows/Linux) or Cmd + Shift + R (Mac).
  • Or open an incognito / private window and try again.

Clear cookies and cache

  • Browser settings → Privacy / History → clear cookies & cache for the last hour.

Flush your DNS cache

  • Windows: Command Prompt → ipconfig /flushdns
  • macOS: Terminal → sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder
  • Linux: sudo systemd-resolve --flush-caches
  • Chrome: chrome://net-internals/#dns → Clear host cache

Restart your router

  • Unplug router and modem for 30 seconds, then plug back in and wait for all lights to stabilise.

Try a different DNS or VPN

  • Switch DNS to 1.1.1.1 (Cloudflare) or 8.8.8.8 (Google).
  • Use a VPN to check if GitLab is region-blocked in your area.
