Why AI tools go down

AI services combine massive compute demand with fast-moving infrastructure, which makes them uniquely outage-prone. The failures we see most are capacity overloads during peak hours (the model queue backs up and requests time out), rate limits that make the tool feel "down" when it’s actually throttling you, deployment issues after a model or feature update, and outages at the cloud GPU providers these tools depend on. A model that’s slow rather than erroring is usually overloaded, not offline.

The most common problems

Reports tend to cluster around: responses never finish or time out, you can’t log in, a "something went wrong" or capacity error appears, or generations fail partway.
