When a message won’t send or a video call keeps dropping, it’s hard to tell whether the app is down or your connection is the problem. This page brings together live status for the major messaging, calling and email services we monitor so you can check in one click.

Why messaging and email services go down

These services run huge, always-on infrastructure, so outages tend to be brief but very visible — everyone notices the moment messages stop moving. The causes we see most are overloaded backends during peak hours, botched updates that break sending or login for everyone, and authentication outages that lock people out even though the servers are otherwise healthy.

The most common problems

Reports usually cluster around: messages stuck on "sending," calls that won’t connect or keep dropping, the app won’t log in, or email that won’t load or sync. If the app opens but nothing sends, it’s almost always a service-side outage. If only you are affected, it’s usually your network or a stale session.

Is it the app, or your connection?

If our monitor shows the service as up but it won’t work for you, switch networks or sign out and back in — the problem is local. If we show it down and reports are climbing, it’s service-wide and waiting is the fix. Our guide on telling if it’s down for everyone or just you shows how to confirm.
