Why streaming services go down

Streaming platforms are some of the most outage-sensitive services online because they combine enormous concurrent traffic with a long delivery chain. A single popular premiere can send millions of people to the login screen at the same minute. The failures we see most often are content-delivery (CDN) hiccups that break playback in one region while the rest of the world is fine, login and account backends buckling under a traffic spike, and payment or DRM services that block playback even when the video servers themselves are healthy.

The most common streaming problems

Most reports fall into a few buckets: video won’t play or endlessly buffers, the app won’t load past the splash screen, you can’t log in, or audio drops out.
